Business Development Manager
Play to your relationship building strengths + get paid to meet people and drink coffee + make a real positive impact in a values-led business
Do you love supporting people?
Is it genuinely enjoyable and almost effortless for you to connect and build relationships even in a business context?
If you’re a “hell yes” to that, this might be your dream job.
Who are we?
DJRA help directors and business owners through some of the toughest financial times of their lives.
But we don’t just advise. We guide, support, and walk alongside them with empathy and clarity.
For us, trust and relationships aren’t a “nice to have,” they are the foundation of everything we do.
Most of our clients come to us through referrals.
Specifically, through the referrals from accountants and advisors when they have clients in trouble who need our help.
These advisors only trust us because of the time and effort our BDM has invested in building these relationships.
Genuinely listening to understand them, their business and how DJRA can best support them to support their clients if they ever need help.
This role is about maintaining existing relationships, establishing new relationships and cementing your reputation (and ours) as the trusted person these referrers call when a client needs our advice.
About the role
As a Business Development Manager your role is not about 'sales'.
Everything you do will be about building and maintaining relationships; specifically having conversations, and building genuine trust.
Establishing new relationships and strengthening existing relationships.
You’ll need to be the kind of person who can confidently pick up the phone and organise a coffee meeting, not to “sell”, but to listen.
Your goal will always be to connect, and to make people feel seen, heard, and valued.
The measure of success here isn't just about activity levels, number of leads generated or financial targets - it’s about the quality of the relationships you create, and the level of real trust you foster with professionals who, in turn, feel safe trusting us with their clients.
How you’ll spend your time
👉 Building and nurturing relationships with accountants, lawyers and other advisors.
👉 Educating our referrers on how they can build clients for life through our services.
👉 Making calls and setting up coffee catch-ups that feel like conversations, not transactions.
👉 Representing DJRA at networking events and industry gatherings.
👉 Acting as the bridge between referrers and our Strategists, ensuring seamless client handover.
👉 Remembering the details that matter, names, hobbies, stories, because those small things are the building blocks for the big things (trust and credibility).
